Little Whispers

Gymnastics

First Reading
WIS 18:14-16; 19:6-9
When peaceful stillness compassed everything
and the night in its swift course was half spent,
Your all-powerful word, from heaven’s royal throne
bounded, a fierce warrior, into the doomed land,
bearing the sharp sword of your inexorable decree.
And as he alighted, he filled every place with death;
he still reached to heaven, while he stood upon the earth.

For all creation, in its several kinds, was being made over anew,
serving its natural laws,
that your children might be preserved unharmed.
The cloud overshadowed their camp;
and out of what had before been water, dry land was seen emerging:
Out of the Red Sea an unimpeded road,
and a grassy plain out of the mighty flood.
Over this crossed the whole nation sheltered by your hand,
after they beheld stupendous wonders.
For they ranged about like horses,
and bounded about like lambs,
praising you, O Lord! their deliverer.

Responsorial Psalm
PS 105:2-3, 36-37, 42-43
R. (5a) Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
or:
R. Alleluia.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
R. Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
or:
R. Alleluia.
Then he struck every first born throughout their land,
the first fruits of all their manhood.
And he led them forth laden with silver and gold,
with not a weakling among their tribes.
R. Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
or:
R. Alleluia.
For he remembered his holy word
to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people with joy;
with shouts of joy, his chosen ones.
R. Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
or:
R. Alleluia.

Gospel
LK 18:1-8
Jesus told his disciples a parable
about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary.
He said, “There was a judge in a certain town
who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
And a widow in that town used to come to him and say,
‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’
For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought,
‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,
because this widow keeps bothering me
I shall deliver a just decision for her
lest she finally come and strike me.’”
The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.
Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones
who call out to him day and night?
Will he be slow to answer them?
I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily.
But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

“Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily.” (Luke 18:7)

REFLECTION

Ever since first year of high school, my dream was to be a pep squad member. I love seeing people doing tumblings and stunts. Until one day, I was encouraged to do audition. At first, I was really hesitant. I was thinking if I should still continue the audition or not. I was scared that people might laugh at me if I didn’t succeed. And because my fear overwhelmed me, I decided not to continue. With that, my love for gymnastics faded away.

When I reached senior high school, I had a friend who was really good in gymnastics. She would always show me all her videos doing some tumbling skills. Again, I was inspired to join the school’s squad for the sport. I started to search for video tutorials. One day my friend asked me to just enrol in gymnastics since I was so dedicated to learning it. I tried asking permission but my parents did not allow me. It came to a point that I wanted to train without asking permission but then every time I try to do so, something hinders me from going. Finally, I gathered my courage and tried to ask permission, even though at the back of my mind I was thinking that they still wouldn’t allow me, but that didn’t discourage me from trying again and again. It seemed like it would never happen, but my persistence in asking proved that it was possible. My parents finally allowed me to train!

Today, I realized that God may not give you what you’re asking for right away but when He does, He makes sure that it’s the best for you and will make you happy. Even if you feel like God is not listening to you, He always finds a way to make your dreams come true.

Prayer

Father God, I surrender everything to you. I reach out my hand to you now, and ask you to walk beside me. Please guide me. Please help me hold strong, through the trials and storms. Help me to hold on to my faith, in even the darkest hour. Amen.
